Rent: Watched Rent tonight. Now, I can't compare the film with the stage show...because I never got a chance to see the stage show.
But I really enjoyed the movie. Very much. By the end I was both sad and happy at the same time. I had a tear in one eye and a cheesy smile on my face. Very weird. It just sucked because it took us this long to see it.
From what Katie tells me, it followed the stage show fairly well. So, that's good. I wish I would have been able to see it on stage...especially before seeing the movie, but oh well. Anyway, best musical I've seen in a long while...sheesh. Yeah, that's right...fuck Chicago. Yeah, I said it.
Richard Gere and his pompous ass...pshhh!
March of the Penguins: Also watched this film. And it is horribly evil. Like...its terrible. Half the freaking penguins die...and it made me sad. I was thinking it was going to be more uplifting and happy and cute. OH, it was cute...by so damn horrible at the same time. *sigh*
Black Face: We also watched some of the Laurence Olivier's "Othello", where he's painted black to play the Moor of Venice. Anyway...yeah...he was literally painted BLACK! Not painted to look like a black man....painted black...and it had a shininess to it so it made him seem silver at times, and in some light he looked blue. It was freaking awful! UGH! And I couldn't understand what he was shouting half the time...he was playing Othello half retarded, I think. I don't know. It was weird. sheesh.
....My room smells like a cheeseburger.

Date: 2005-12-15 10:34 am (UTC)The March of the Penguins wasn't as bad as I made it sound...it was just...right before the movie started I said, "I hope no penguins die, i heard it was uplifting and for families." Katie says to me, "Its National Geogrpahic stuff, they make a living off of filming animals dying."
and so of course...every obstacle the penguins face, some die. Not in a horrific way or anything. Nothing wholly disturbing......but they do die and it made me sad. :(
