Motorcycle Crash
Jul. 31st, 2007 10:56 amI had a real time bike accident yesterday night.
I went out with the normal group plus some guy I didn't know who was leading us down a really fun little road. But it was dark and I was unfamiliar with the roads...so I was stupidly going a bit too fast.
Got into a corner and I was going in too fast and didn't come in wide enough...so I was running out of road and my split second decision was to stand the bike up and I headed into the side of the road and gravel. I had both my brakes held in hard and I think that was a big mistake because when my front wheel hit the gravel it took the whole bike down very quick because I had the brake on.
So, I went down and couldn't do anything for almost a minute or so except groan in pain. But Kurt got there quick and that calmed me down. I realized that I could move and nothing seemed broken. I got to my feet and took off my gloves, helmet, and jacket. Of course that revealed the huge case of road rash I had on my left hip. :(
The next day...problems with my bike were fixed for the most part. It took off my left turn signal, cracked my front fairing and windscreen and some small scrapes on the plastic. But not a big deal really. The bike wasn't running for awhile until Gerry was able to drain the carbs or something because apparently tipping the bike over had gotten water everywhere it shouldn't be. heh. but the bike is running now but taking the day off at home.
I'm trying to avoid customers at work because I can't really walk. so, I hope I'll be able to achieve that for the rest of the day.
I'll post pictures of my wound as soon as I can...but I can't get to them on this computer and my internet isn't working at home for some reason. :(
