One pathetic twisted wreck, I KILL!!!!!
Nov. 8th, 2005 02:20 amWent and saw CKY yesterday at the House of Blues. The last show there for awhile and it was the most fun. A show I finally thoroughly enjoyed at that venue. Very pleasing.
Front Row: I love CKY, think they're brilliant, but Katie likes them more. And I think even she had resigned herself to the fact that we probably weren't getting up front. We got there around two hours before doors opened. And the line wasn't bad. We're first in the regular line. And when we get inside there's a spot up front and Katie snags it and asks these guys to move over a bit so there's room for her and me. Nice of them.
Openers: The two opening bands...uhh...yes...The Knives. They were pretty good. Rocked out pretty good but nothing too spectacular. I enjoyed them. And then a band called Fireball Ministry (worst band name ever?), who made me angry. They had this chick guitarist with the most hideous guitar I've ever seen in my life. And they had her up there just because she was a decent looking blonde chick. Because the band were ugly fucks and the chick did not do one solo. The singer was doing everything that would take a little bit of skill. There was really no need for her to be there other then to get some attention.
CKY CKY CKY: We're on the left in front of Chad Ginsburg, the insane man himself. So that was amusing the whole show to just watch him. He is one crazy muthafucka. For the life of me, I can't remember most of the set...and because I don't know their new stuff yet...But they did play a couple of songs that I like best. "96 Quite Bitter Things", "Attached at the Hip", "Promiscuous Daughter", "Close Yet Far" was the final song of the night and it was beautimous...hehe. It was a good mix of stuff off their new album and older stuff.
The Crowd Surfers: There were a whole lot of crowd surfers and this one guy who went through about fifteen times. He finally went nuts and used a speaker, my head and Katie's wrist to propel himself on to the stage. Once on stage he began break dancing, trying to spin on his head and other moves. He was finally tackled and dragged off stage. And he was followed soon after by another brave soul who jumped on stage, bumping Ginsburg and then immediately being pushed, shoved, and thrown about by security. He was not treated nicely at all.
And Deron Miller, the singer/guitarist, achieved a feet the Etherial Glow could not. He climbed on to the speaker right in front of Katie and me and played up there for a little bit. 'Twas very awesome and so very Rock and Roll! haha. And speaking of how Rock and Roll they were....Ginsburg's shoe laces came a bit undone and they got taped down in mid song which I found amusing. And his throwing the microphone around and seeing if the tech guy could catch it before it hit the ground.
The show was brilliant. Most fun I've had the House of Blues to date. The crowd was such a nice crowd. I thought it was going to be nonsense and pushing and shoving...but see...the older kids know about pit etiquette!! These stupid young kids who go to shows like...My Chemical Romance don't know what the hell they're doing and they end up ruining people's nights or hurting someone. But people who actually listen to harder music on a regular basis and go to these types of shows know what they're doing and aren't there to shove some little girl around cause it makes him feel tough. And CKY was amazing live. Very energetic and fun.
And Katie touched Jess Margera...who has at some point touched Ryan Dunn, so she's on cloud nine. hehehe
