Futbol und Musik!

greatbritonThe last couple days have been very busy for me. With work and my afterwork activities.
Atletico Nacional vs. Monarcas Morelia: On Wednesday, The Citrus Bowl here in Orlando was the showcase for a friendly between a Colombian team Atletico Nacional and the Mexican team Monarcas Morelia. About 12,000 fans attended the game.
I was unable to get into the game because one...I was only there to help Katie and her group film their documentary...so we walked around and talked with the fans and got some really great crowd shots. But after getting there and seeing that stadium and seeing the people and their flags and when noises began erupting from inside the stadium, I only wanted to go inside and watch the game. But I was truly and seriously broke. :( :( It was really exciting just watching the fans. During the game there were fireworks being set off by fans and just the noise was brilliant.
After the game, watching all the fans come flowing out with their team colors and singing. At one point a group came out with drums, pounding away and people supporting both teams lined up behind them and just began a little dancing parade!
The sad thing...the only news I could find on the game was here, Orlando Sentinel. Which sucks...because its the biggest game to come to this area since....I guess when they had World Cup games here back in 1994. But of course one, I wasn't a fan then and second, I didn't live here then either. I was still up in Ohio.
Tapes 'n Tapes: And last night...Katie and I went to see Tapes 'n Tapes at the Social, with openers The Annuals who weren't half bad. I was quite happy because both bands were prompt and I wasn't stuck waiting an hour for either.
But The Annuals were fun. One of the better openers I've seen at The Social. Good energy and they won over the crowd pretty well, especially since at the beginning nobody was paying them much mind, but by the end everybody was watching them.
Tapes 'n Tapes were very fun, very good. I've only heard a couple of their songs up to last night. So, when the bassist stood on the setlist I was looking at and said something along the lines of not wanting us to cheat and know what was coming up...I felt bad and didn't want to tell him the song titles did not help me at all. ;) hehe.
I'm not allowed to bring my camera in anymore, so no pictures from me. :( BOOO! but Katie did get hers in...and she got a couple videos...I don't know if she'll let me snag them or not though. :( Very VERY fun night.
